Introduction

Welcome to the Coach Development Course

Who this course is for: This course was built for the thousands of volunteer coaches who want to take the next step in their coaching journey but may not have the time, finances, or desire to enrol in a lengthy formal coach education program. Whether you coach at a participation or competitive level, this course will address the things that matter most clearly, practically and in a way you can actually use

What you will get from this course: By the end of the four modules you will have:

  1. A clear picture of where you are on your coaching development pathway and where you want to go.
  2. A deeper understanding of what is driving the decline in youth sport participation and what coaches can do about it.
  3. Practical knowledge of the 5C development framework and how to use it to assess and support athletes across any age or stage.
  4. Concrete tools for setting expectations, managing communication, handling conflict, and protecting your own well-being as a coach.
  5. A certificate of completion and a foundation for the kind of coaching that makes a genuine difference in young people's lives.

How the course is structured: Four modules. Each one builds on the last. You can complete them at your own pace and return to any section at any time.

A note before you begin

Coaching is one of the most powerful roles in a young person's development. Not because of what you teach technically, but because of who you are in the room. The best coaches are not always the most qualified. They are the most consistent, the most curious, and the most committed to the people in front of them.

This course is not designed to tell you what you already know. It is designed to give you language for what you already feel and tools for what you are not yet sure how to do.

Quality coaching is the foundation of all quality sport experiences. This is your opportunity to invest in yourself, your athletes and your community.
